State Farm Champions Classic

State Farm Champions Classic

The State Farm Champions Classic, which matches four of the nation’s best programs against each other, began in 2011. The fifth installment will be played in 2015 at the United Center in Chicago, and will once again showcase Kansas vs. Michigan State and Kentucky vs. Duke. The 2016 doubleheader event will be played in New York City. The marquee matchups will continue to be the culminating games of ESPN’s College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon, which provides more than 24 consecutive hours basketball coverage to mark the start of the college basketball season.

The fourth installment of the Champions Classic, played Nov. 18 in Indianapolis, showcased three of the top five teams in the nation: No. 1 Kentucky routed No. 5 Kansas, 72-40, and No. 4 Duke topped No. 19 Michigan State, 81-71.

The inaugural Champions Classic doubleheader was held in 2011 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, followed in 2012 by games at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
